We are all well as usual and all busy trying to save something to eat for this winter - apples, potatoes, cabbage, walnuts, &c &c &c. I often see your mother and all, your father has not been well, but goes all the time. I was in Franklin yesterday and met Ollie Hedrick. he said they were all well. You ask about Nettie She had not been nome here for a long time. they have bought a farm near Parsons and moved on it and writes that she is so busy that she cannot come to see us for a while yet. Tell your aunt Sarah* that I am helping to make a topographical map of Pendleton County and want all the genealogy of the Landes family I can get. All the Landeses she knows anything about we will want. Well we are living in a fearful time. Everybody in trouble of one kind or another. Plenty of everything but no money or employment for laborers. Many many poor people will be sold out of house and home. Rebecca** goes to high school in Circleville, porr thing! I wish she could get in school at Madison Teen[?]***. away from the wickedness of such a public school as she is in now. but we are all back here in the mountains and "while in Rome must do as Rome does." Well write me another letter soon. give my kind regards to all and keep bushels for yourself. With many kind wishes for your future happiness is the prayer of your affectionate grandfather, D. A. Landes P. S. Dessie****, Don and Zellie all send you kind remembrances. -------------------------- Ruth Lawrence was the daughter of Pendleton and Jinnie Lawrence.
